Breast Cancer is a very common malignancy among women. Unfortunately, being male offers no protection against this disease. In recent years, cases of male breast cancer have risen globally, now accounting for approximately 1% of all diagnoses. In Italy, there are an increasing number of men under the age of 50, with 600 new cases each year. Regrettably, men often only detect the disease at an advanced stage—when the tumor has grown large enough to be visible or palpable. The resulting psychological trauma is profound, and one’s masculine identity is inevitably left extremely fragile. One is left to wonder: “Where does the male ego go to hide?” …Lacking information and prevention, mutilated, and feeling less virile.

Il cancro al seno è una neoplasia molto diffusa tra le donne. Purtroppo, essere uomini non ti mette al sicuro da questa malattia. Negli ultimi anni, i casi di tumore al seno maschile sono aumentati a livello globale, arrivando a rappresentare circa l’1% di tutte le diagnosi. In Italia, si registra un numero crescente di uomini colpiti prima dei 50 anni, con 600 nuovi casi ogni anno. Spesso gli uomini scoprono la malattia solo in fase avanzata, quando il tumore è diventato abbastanza grande da essere visibile o palpabile. Il trauma psicologico che ne deriva è profondo e l’identità maschile ne esce inevitabilmente colpita. Viene spontaneo chiedersi: “Dove va a nascondersi l’ego maschile?” …Privi di informazioni e prevenzione, mutilati e con la sensazione di essere meno virili.
