“Hotel Tevere” is a project rooted in a personal and intimate perception of the encounters and emotions that flow along the banks of the Tiber River. The scenes are often a murky blend of naturalistic glimpses and man-made landscapes, shrouded in the delightful tales of those who inhabit them.
The river, 405 km long, flows through four regions: Emilia-Romagna, where it originated only 100 years ago; Tuscany, where it arrives weak and swells and swells; Umbria, which splits in two along its entire length; and Lazio, its final stop, before diving into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The scenes must attract the eyes and the soul and capture their interest
with the same spirit that inspired Dante Alighieri. With his bucolic tale of a dawn, the Supreme Poet sang of the banks of the Tiber in Canto II of Purgatory, “Where the Tiber’s water becomes salty.”
There, where the river flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea, flows the imaginary line and the natural boundary of perfect balance, separating and blurring the mouth and the sea.
It is the dichotomy of the waters that marks the end of this journey. The landscapes, born as ideal harmony, take on dystopian perspectives, and the aspirational narrative, an irrepressible quest for beauty, becomes urgent as an expression of preservation.
